Analog for Fritz Hansen
Jaime Hayon has designed Analog for Republic of Fritz Hansen. The table is celebrating the authentic way of connecting with people around a table by bringing us closer. The world is filled with communication through digital devices. Analog provides a space where no device is needed. The table promotes a return to the genuine togetherness that is a stark contrast to the digital life we face with demands of constant on-line presence. Analog gives you an invitation to engage, to share, to be intimate and present – to be off-line.
Analog is not a square, not a circle, not an oval – it is a new form that takes the best from the three classic shapes and brings them together in a new, organic form. There is no hierarchy, just a beautiful platform for conversations which is a perfect match for modern relationships among family members, friends and colleagues.
“The table is an underrated piece of furniture. In my eyes, the table is the heart of the home, the heart of the office, the heart of the restaurant. At the table, we share our greatest joys and sorrows, and at the end of the day, some of the greatest things in life happens around a table. What makes Analog unique is its shape. It’s neither square, round nor oval but something in between, which supports dialogue and intimacy. I have worked a lot with the shape of the table and the way in which it is simultaneously heavy and light, so that it exudes quality and possesses that special Fritz Hansen DNA,” -Jaime Hayon.
FRAMES Collection for Expormim
The history of this third generation family firm created a challenge for Jaime to tell an old story in a new and interesting way. All of Expormim’s products have a strong identity and exude a flavour of the Mediterranean area they hail from, a characteristic they share with Hayon. For the FRAMES collection which includes an armchair, a screen and a side table, he has combined his respect and love for the Expormim traditions with his unique design sensibility to create clever pieces that take a new approach to the way in which the material is used. Rattan is almost unique as a furniture material in that it requires no additional components to function, taking this material, Hayon created a series of frames that come together offering comfort and flexibility.
FRAMES is a happy new chapter to an old story, the old tale of craft and tradition within a new framework of clever design using a joyous new approach to the material. The nested narrative of the design brings this traditional outdoor furniture inside, adding a layer of glamour to the rustic charm of the material. What was once only a seasonal story can now be told all year round, with this simple yet sophisticated, aesthetic FRAMES has all the properties of a contemporary classic.
New Roman Collection for Paola C.
New Roman, by Jaime Hayon for Paola C, presents a vision of classical tradition advancing into the 21st century. Inspired by the vessels of the Roman Empire, this collection transforms antique references into a celebration of contemporary craft. New Roman plays to the strengths of Paola C, by coming to life through a multitude of noble materials, old and new. The collection finely balances sophisticated forms like the amphora, with touches of humor as demonstrated in the Augustus Carafe.
ABALLS Lamps for Parachilna
“Jaime, we are looking for a lamp, straightforward but imbued with the spirit of PARACHILNA: rich materials, traditional skills blended with artisanal craftsmanship and impeccable finishes. Design- wise…you take care of it.”
So began the creation of ABALLS, a collection that combines the world class craftsmanship skills of Bosa with the traditional artistry of hand blown glass.
Ceramics and blown glass are linked by a polished brass ring. The dimmer’s control lever is also made of polished brass. The ABALLS collection includes a chandelier, hanging lamps available in three different sizes and table lamps available in two sizes.
The chandelier showcases a golden electroplated or white, black lacquered steel structure matching the colours of the ceramic bodies. 24 blown glass diffusers complete the fixture. The hanging and table lamps are made up of a blown glass diffuser and a white, black or golden ceramics base. The result is a set of strongly decorative objects that produce a warm ambient light and can be used in a domestic environment as well as in contract projects.
