Baccarat Candy Lights

It has the attraction of a character in a play, ready to go on stage – all restrained but elegant, unashamedly possessed by its history. Jaime Hayon has now created his first lamps for Baccarat. A lighting design personified in three colours (copper, platinum and white), based on a same creative script. Named Candy Light, the trio of lamps is a distillation of rich textures and materials, a subtle conjoining of ceramic base and clear, cut-crystal shade. Delicately inserted into the base, the switch embodied by a Baccarat red crystal pendant triggers and diffuses the light even as it controls it. Between its ceramic base and its crystal shade the outline takes shape and creates an impression of bountiful perfection, enhanced, when lit, by a delicately embossed waffle collar. When the object turns into a living presence, Hayon transmutes the crystal into a light finery and the surrounding space becomes inhabited.

The Guest

Unexpected, captivating, unique… this is The Guest, a singular character from the Spanish artistic porcelain brand conceived by Jaime Hayon for Lladró Atelier. The Guest project is an invitation to cutting-edge artists from around the world to lend a distinctive personality to this charismatic porcelain being. The outcome of this joint endeavour can be seen in the first pieces from the collection. The Guests come in two sizes, the large in a limited edition of 250 units and the small in a numbered series.

FAVN For Fritz Hansen

FAVN is the Danish name for embrace. This piece is the result of a creative dialogue between Jaime Hayon and Fritz Hansen. “I wanted the sofa to be based on a shell. A shell being hard on the outside, soft and welcoming on the inside. I wanted to create a form that embraces you, something really organic – that’s why we named it FAVN”. “FAVN is an evolution of Fritz Hansen’s design language that brings together the qualities of Spanish and Danish design”. The new sofa is presented in ten unique Designer Selections; light grey, sage green, clear beige, taupe, chocolate, mutstard, red, violet, dark blue and black. It includes a mix of three fabrics to express the form of its three main components; the shell, seat and back and decorative cushions. The combination of texture and tone is appealing to the visual and emotional senses.

FORMA / Choemon Gama Porcelain

Hirotoshi Maruwaka, the producer of Maruwakaya, asked Hayon if he was interested in working with Kamide Choemon-gama, a pottery of one of Japan’s most acclaimed traditional porcelain crafts, Kutaniyaki. The answer was a resounding yes. Drawing from key ideas in Japanese culture concerning relations and links between the people at the table, food, seasons and table wares, the goal was to create pieces that help people recognise these relationships. The resulting ‘FORMA’ series of beautifully crafted bowls, cups and vessels is a sensitive balance between the design ideals and philosophies of two cultures. First shown in 2010 in a palette of rich blue and white with red accents, this elegant white and gold collection for 2012 draws attention away from pattern to focus on the simplcity and elegance of the forms themselves.

Smartphone For AU

The au mobilephone project has produced a series of innovative Japanese mobile phones that go beyond function and specifications to put joy and pleasure into your hands. The result is a mobile product brand with an entirely new sense of value, based on a strong track record in design and the power to deliver new ideas. With iida, the life of each product is infused with its own sensibility. The Hayon phone shown in prototype here playfully combines analog and digital details.

The Baccarat Zoo

In the style of a crystal menagerie, thought like an astonishing bestiary, Jaime Hayon signs in 2011 the Baccarat ZOO. A collection in the spirit of its Crystal Set Candy designed in 2009 and its Candy Light launched at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2011. Thereby continues the parade of material combinations. Halfway between a glamorous sweet box and a decorative object, Hayon combines the sparkle of crystal with porcelain and gives birth to a wildlife triptych, both playful and democratic.

Catch Chair for & Tradition

This single piece, organically shaped armchair designed by Hayon for &tradition, was inspired by the harmony of curves. Sinuous movements in nature, the push and pull of rounded forms and the interplay of light and shadows, Curves are both seductive and comforting, the natural embellishment and enhancement to linear forms. The key to the design was the creation of a flexible, comfortable shape that would adjust to various body types with its modern and inviting form. A combination of rich materials and various finishes allow for a wide range of options: from a basic naked shell to quality Kvadrat wool upholstery or a luxurious leather alternative. Available in various finishes and ergonomically designed with a high backrest, the chair is both functional and comfortable. Celebrating versatility, it can be used in intimate settings, casual comfort or in the stripped down minimal atmosphere of the workspace. Simplicity, elegance and function combine to make the design consistent with the rich heritage of the &tradition brand while introducing contradictory playfulness, combining Mediterranean exuberance with Nordic restraint, joy and logic in harmony with nature.
