The Daelim Museum presented «Jaime Hayon: Serious Fun», a solo exhibition by Jaime Hayon, from April 27 to November 17 of 2019. Through diverse mediums such as design, furniture, sculpture, sketches, and large-scale installations, the exhibition explores the artist’s unique and intriguing perspective of the world.

In Jaime Hayon’s world, the objects have souls and forevermore speak to us through their own visual language. Through them, we are reminded of imaginary friends from childhood who once kept our side and spoke to our inner soul. Growing up and being submerged in reality perhaps we have forgotten our soul mates and inevitably neglected their stories. «Jaime Hayon: Serious Fun» recalls our imaginary friend, who has long waited to be remembered, and rekindles fantasy in our daily lives in bringing happiness and joy.

The exhibition was divided into seven sections:
“Crystal Passion” displays the Crystal Candy Set, a collaboration with Baccarat, featuring crystal and ceramic pieces inspired by tropical fruits.
“Modern Circus & Tribes” showcases Afrikando, a glasswork series inspired by African decorative arts, and Mon Cirque, an installation of ceramic vases and a wooden table.
“Checkmate” presents The Tournament, a giant chess set inspired by the Battle of Trafalgar, with pieces created in collaboration with Bosa.
“Dream Catcher” features Mediterranean Digital Baroque, a series of paintings reflecting Hayon’s personal cosmology.
“Cabinet of Wonders” is a spatial installation displaying over 70 design objects and sketchbooks.
“Furniture Galaxy” highlights Hayon’s furniture designs, created in collaboration with brands like Fritz Hansen and Magis.
“Hayon Shadow Theater” introduces a new spatial installation where imaginary creatures from Hayon’s sketchbooks come to life through light and shadow.
