Made in blown murano glass, metal and wooden accessories the TESTA MECHANICA series was Presented as part of Glasstress for Venice Projects at the Venice Biennial 2011 and MAD, New York City in 2012.
Translating to “mechanical heads” in Spanish, this set of three handblown glass sculptures reimagines Murano glasswork in a contemporary, playful way. Each piece is a whimsical, cartoon-like head with gear-shaped forms encased in a spherical body. Mounted on wooden bases, the vessels feature a protruding, funnel-shaped “nose,” with each sculpture distinguished by a different color. The trio as a whole presents a quirky, offbeat charm.
