Groninger Museum Family Lab

The Family Lab, a vibrant new space conceived as a Discovery Space and Studio, seamlessly integrates Hayon’s inimitable design language, inviting families and children to engage in playful exploration and creative learning. Hayon’s vision transforms the space into a modernized, stylized “jungle,” where bold blue glass-fronted cabinets filled with artworks encourage tactile interaction, traditionally off-limits in a museum setting.

A serpentine table with signature radius edges winds through the studio, fostering collaborative creativity. Smiling-face stools and custom lighting mimicking tree branches enhance the whimsical atmosphere. Complementing existing mint green and burnt orange walls, a new candy-like pink and blue palette along with custom marble floors ensures a cohesive, visually captivating experience.
