Jaime, what are you doing?

JAIME, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? During 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, Jaime Hayon presents “Jaime, what are you doing?”, a deeply personal exhibition created in collaboration with St. Leo. The title comes from a question his mother asked him throughout his life—simple, direct, and full of care. This gesture of curiosity becomes the starting point of the exhibition. Conceived as a tribute following her passing, the project reflects on the enduring presence of a mother’s love and its lasting influence.  It acknowledges everything she transmitted: a way of seeing the world with optimism, sensitivity, and imagination; a belief in creativity as a guiding force; and a constant drive to pursue.

Jaime, What Are You Doing? is a deeply personal exhibition by Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon, conceived as a heartfelt tribute to his mother, Raquel Benchimol, who recently passed away. The title evokes the phrase she would always say to him as she stood watching him immersed in his work—a blend of curiosity and care that shaped his entire life. The exhibition aims to guide the public to the emotional roots of his creative language through his most iconic pieces, from playful ceramics, glassworks, painting to furniture and personal objects, proving that design goes far beyond aesthetics: it is a living vessel for memory, craftsmanship, and the unyielding optimism she passed down to him.

The exhibition features sculptures and furniture pieces in materials including glass, ceramic, marble and bronze, all of which reflect Hayon’s distinctive, artistic approach. Works have been selected for their sentimental significance, and Hayon has accompanied them with personal handwritten anecdotes.
