‘I was given the chance to experiment on the looms at the Tilburg, Textile Museum and tried to research all of the possibilities that the machines offered and all the combinations of materials and colours. In these tapestries, you can see my animal cosmos come to life.’
The tapestries are unique pieces, created as wall hangings, measuring almost three meters in length. different yarns, such as glossy, mat and thule yarns give an interesting structure. Using single and double weave makes it possible to produce some parts of the wall hanging flat and other parts convex. The series is named FAUNA by HAYON.
The Birds tapestry is part of the Tilburg Textile Museum collection and was first shown at the ‘Eyes on Nature: wall Hangings’ exhibition in Tillburg, the Netherlands, 2013.
