We have teamed up with Jaime Hayon to present a project at this year’s Salone del Mobile that highlights the potential of such collaborations in the form of a spatial installation. Our starting point is a specific topic with an open outcome. Jaime Hayon has embarked on a journey into a mobile future that revolves around our MINI Citysurfer Concept. The flexible electric kick scooter provides a smart, personalised and – for the Spanish designer and artist – fantastical way of getting around town. Jaime Hayon’s routes lead us into his imaginary world of a modern metropolis, into the heart of the urban jungle with its myriad questions that we, as automotive designers, must address.
How emotional is mobility? Who designs our cities? How personalised do we want our paths of mobility to be? “Urban Perspectives” represents an invitation to experience Jaime Hayon’s aesthetic dream of future mobility in the city: getting from A to B – and far beyond – with serene ease and artistic flair. We view Jaime Hayon’s joyful game of functionality, fantasy and creativity as a personal homage to our own concept of mobility.
