The Standard Bangkok

To conceptualize the uber-social downtown property, Spanish artist and designer Jaime Hayon delved into the synergy between the city’s melting pot of cultures and free-form artistic exploration. The resulting social spaces are fresh and intertwined with reinterpretations of cultural cues.

Color, Concept and Personality make this hotel unique. The design was inspired greatly by the city of Bangkok which is such a dynamic city, culturally exuberant in gastronomy, design and the arts. Hayon ensured this was reflected in the design of the hotel. There is an integration of local culture, from furniture to lighting to decor. The rooms are simple and comfortable with neutral colors, while the public spaces showcase materiality in an exaggerated way. Complex use of colors and textures that are not only functional but provide an essence of richness to the project.

The project is more than just a beautiful canvas when it comes to the design. Entering the ground floor, we are bringing the green to the building under to create an ‘Urban Sanctuary’. Accessing from the elevator to yellow wall, the lobby floor is a hub of social space with a pretty all-day-space vibe at The Parlor and the iconic black-and-white bijoux tea room called Tease. The Standard Grill is a take on a classic brasserie that blends traditional American steakhouse with a freshness of regional flavors. Getting to rest and play at Guestroom with a balance of bold and glamourous plus a retro-style furniture. There’s also amazing open air terraces and pool area that is joyful and bold.

Designed by Jaime Hayon, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon just won the AHEAD Award for the Best Hotel, New Build in Asia.
