ASK FOR OUR PRESS FILE

Jaime Hayon’s “Carousel,” created in collaboration with Swarovski, offers a distinct interpretation of the traditional amusement ride. Housed within Swarovski Crystal Worlds, in Wattens, Austria, the installation utilizes approximately 15 million Swarovski crystals to create a visually striking, interactive experience.
The design uses a primarily black-and-white palette, intended to provide a contrast with the surrounding garden environment. This deliberate choice of color serves to highlight the interplay between the crystal elements and the organic setting.

Hayon’s design reimagines the carousel’s form, while referencing its inherent nostalgic associations. The extensive use of crystals across the ceiling and wall panels creates a reflective surface, manipulated by warm, integrated lighting.
The seating and details of the carousel feature characters and motifs inspired by folklore and fairy tales. These narrative sculpture elements are intended to evoke a sense of playfulness and wonder, inviting visitors to engage with the installation on a more imaginative level. “Carousel” functions as an exploration of material, form, and narrative within an interactive context. It presents a contemporary interpretation of a familiar object, utilizing Swarovski crystal as a medium for both aesthetic and experiential effect.
