The opportunity to research and exercise creative possibilities along with Baccarat led to the creation of the Crystal Candy Set. The approach was guided by the search for exquisite color and material combinations. With these pieces, I wanted to replicate the richness of fresh tropical fruit using crystal and other materials, such as ceramics. Using a variety of textures and thicknesses, a new game of reflection has been accomplished with each of the 9 characters that make up the collection. Diverse crystal cutting techniques can be appreciated throughout the collection. They result in a series of soft, feminine shapes with touch of humor. Fruity inspirations are mixed with gem like features: pineapples, pomegranates, golf balls and water drops are some of the ideas explored. The pieces are a limited edition of 25.

The Bastoni Collection: I have been thinking of this sort of lamp for ages: one you could drag comfortable all around the house for reading. I am the type of guy who moves plenty and this lamp would be the perfect one for me. It was also an element with a sense of humor, something I truly appreciate in a piece.
Bardot by Bernhardt
Just as the curves of the human body flow into one another, the same can be said of the Bardot. The absence of distinct angles and lines permit the exterior and interior to gently merge together, creating a continuous form that allows fabric to conform to its shape, similar to the way a dress fits the body. Inspired by the feminine silhouette, Hayon wanted the sofa to feel like a fruit, tender to the touch, while at the same time be extremely durable like combining the lightness and strength of a ballerina. Many sofas are too big to actually use in city apartments, so I wanted to make one that looked big and felt generous, but would actually work in smaller spaces. Even though it may have a deceivingly compact footprint, the comfortable and functional Bardot retains an impressive elegance regardless of its location.

Copa Cabana is the newest light collection designed by Hayon for Metalarte. The ceramic shade family is made up of hanging, wall mounted, applique and chandelier version in various finishes.

SE Collection II Jaime Hayon
Curvaceous, lithe and refined, SEs second Collection of furniture has a celebratory air. For this collection Hayon, who is renowned for taking inspiration from observations of everyday life, sought stimulation from two key sources: musical instruments and insects. After looking at strong curvilinear shapes – violins, flutes, beetles, the harp – Hayon sketched the Collections furniture forms, analyzing them in terms of materials and the subsequent manufacturing process, then transformed them into this coherent family. The Collection’s pieces are strong sculptural expressions that emphasize the space around them. The results are here: clean, organic shapes that can work in all kinds of environments. This is furniture that fits into our lives, and yet also transcends the everyday.
KUTANI CHOEMON by Hayon
Each piece in the collection features unique artwork inspired by Japanese culture, in particular that of the dinner table.
The pieces were created in collaboration with Japanese product design brand Maruwakaya.
The collection was presented at DesignTide Tokyo 2010.
