Maison Matisse Limited Collection

One of the things I admire most about Matisse’s work is the use of colour: it is so well-integrated, so special, and applied in a magical way. It reflects the traces of different cultures and the rich and dynamic journey of a unique life, at the same time. His line is a combination of precision and figuration. By studying his paintings, one can find a rich mix of elements, notably his representation of nature combined with imaginative furniture and objects from cultures that are important to him.

Henri Matisse uses solid figures; the colour contrast is magnificent. The most important point that I feel I share with Matisse is a passion for the Mediterranean: nature, the sea, the imagination and the ability to dream. The choice of blues and oranges reminds me of medinas, orange blossoms and markets of North Africa. Codes like these transports me to a Mediterranean loaded with power and magic.

I am a fervent admirer of his style and I have always found a real source of inspiration in it. Having the opportunity to transpose the inspiration I find in his work into my personal universe has been very enriching. The concept behind these vases is based on fantastical elements: forms, silhouettes and natural references that float in a sea of colours.

The shape of the vase itself is inspired by Mediterranean references and the elements that appear in Matisse’s oeuvre. Tradition and audacity come together to create unique and defined exterior lines that confer strength and character to the style and concept of the design.

FUN-TIONAL table Paola C.

FUN-TIONAL is a fantastical collection designed by Hayon, of surreal and imaginative tableware objects brings joy to every table. Each element, designed to support and liven up the table experience, is crafted with sophisticated metalworking. Even the smallest details become grandiose gestures, thanks to Hayon’s unique style which blends quality with functionality, sealed by Paola C.’s care and passion for excellence.

Silhouette for Nani Marquina

Silhouette is a collection of rugs designed by Jaime Hayon for indoor and outdoor use that highlights the acclaimed casual style of the artist.

Depicted with a delicate stroke, the illustration defines the silhouettes of several imaginary characters that intertwine and coexist in a beautiful composition. Hayón subtly introduces color through small elements brimming with personality that help to interpret each of the images. Nine faces are distributed at different angles so that the rug can be viewed from any perspective, fitting perfectly in any space.

The outdoor proposal is an outdoor hand-tufted rug, developed with 100% recycled PET fiber and produced in India. This combination provides great utility while transferring a sense of well-being that is needed for outdoor spaces.

Wittmann Hayon Workshop 2019

With Wittmann Hayon Workshop, a new style has been born: eclectic, exciting, Mediterranean-baroque and yet timeless. It was created by the playful collaboration between the hyper-creative Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon, and the Austrian manufacturer Wittmann. The collection embodies zest for life and confidence, just like its Viennese Modernism role models.

And it is an ongoing, living process that gives rise to unique items of furniture for all areas of life. 2018 will put forth yet some more new family members.

STICKS TABLE DESIGN: Jaime Hayon Sticks Table expresses the high esteem that Hayon has for the era of the Wiener Werkstätte’s heyday. Two perfectly rounded pieces, joined by a straight line that, as a geometric element, serves to define the design and its function. A highly robust table, given a sense of transparency by the beautifully crafted delicate bars, arranged in a semi-circle. And as colourful as the day is long. Colour is one of Hayon’s many contributions to the history of design.

HELICE TABLE DESIGN: Jaime Hayon A small table, so typically Hayon that we just had to smile. How nice it is when a designer has such an instantly-recognisable design signature. And even more so when it expresses playfulness, levity and a touch of extravagance. Elements often sorely lacking in our daily lives, but which Helice brings into any home or office environment. Space-saving, yet far from unassuming, this new accompaniment can be placed between two armchairs, to provide interlocutors with individual yet joined surfaces to rest items on. Crowned with a fairytale golden ball it is a real conversation piece, among all its other attributes.

VUELTA FD CHAIR DESIGN: Jaime Hayon Setting design, comfort and independence of form atop four legs to create an upholstered chair that unites function and aesthetics, is the height of artistic design. In Vuelta, Jaime Hayon has created an unmistakable look – brought to life by Wittmann with characteristically uncompromising hand craftsmanship – that leaves nothing to be desired. Curiosity, determination and experience – from designer and manufacturer alike – have now made it possible to transfer all of Vuelta’s popular attributes to the dining room. Featuring typical Vuelta stitching, the upholstered seat has a comfortable pocket-sprung core. The curved shape of the backrest gently tapers forward to form an armrest. Vuelta Dining Chair is supported by graceful tubular legs in a choice of black or – for a particularly refined look – satin matt brass. And as Hayon and Wittmann are both synonymous with versatility, there is of course, another option for linking the base to the floor: in this variant, four feet still provide stability, but come together at a central point to create a swivel chair – a pleasant effect that brings dynamism to laid-back gatherings around the dining table. The metal core of the frame is clad in wood, which – how could it be any different with Hayon? – can be coated in any colour of the rainbow.

Setago Lamp for &Tradition

Like many of Jaime Hayon’s pieces, the Setago comes with a story. ‘Seta’ – the Spanish word for mushroom – sets the tone for the diminutive, mushroom like proportions of this quirky table lamp. But a further clue to its identity is signified by the suffix ‘go’ because this lamp unburdened by an electrical cord can literally go anywhere. Rather than remain stationary, it was made to be moved around with ease, plucked like foliage from the floor and carried from one room to the next. To recharge, it simply needs to be attached to a USB cable.

“I wanted to create a lamp that prioritised versatility,” says Hayon of his vision.“The Setago’s cord-free feature means it is extremely adaptable, equally suitable indoors as well as outside.”

This careful consideration to detail has been applied to other facets of the Setago. Drawing inspiration from the artistry of a Japanese lantern, Hayon melds superior craftsmanship with the decidedly modern capabilities of his cord-free design. Despite such integration of technology, the workings remain hidden inside to keep the lamp’s form clean and uncluttered. The light it produces is equally considered, the mood is manipulated by a discreet brass dimmer that controls the diffused, ambient light.

Available in a range of modern colours, the Setago adds an understated touch to any environment. Look closer at the lamp shade and you’ll notice it ends in a small upward curve. It’s another small yet stylish accent  much like the Setago itself.

Design year 2019

Lounge Chair JH97 for Fritz Hansen

“The idea was to create a “typical” Danish lounge chair, expressive and modern. Comfort was a key factor, as was the combination of the best of Danish design tradition and modern technology,” notes Jaime Hayon. Perfectly proportioned with a solid frame available in natural oak, stained oak and black ash – the open, low-slung silhouette has a contemporary feel despite its classic roots. Elegant from every angle, the decorative joints with gently rounded edges are assembled by hand in a nod to Danish heritage designs and craftsmanship tradition. Exaggerated armrests – wide and flat – embrace and support the body, as does the curved backrest, angled in an upright position for comfort when sitting for prolonged periods of time. Enhancing the laid-back feel, generously sized cushions are upholstered with detachable covers in textile or leather, allowing you to easily change the expression. Fitting seamlessly into any setting – from homes to hotels and office headquarters – it lends beauty to every environment thanks to its honest, timeless expression. “The Lounge Chair JH97 is more than just a chair: it’s expressive, light and comfortable, bringing life to a wide range of spaces,” comments Jaime Hayon on the versatile new design.

Lightolight & Lightoread for Parachilna

Lightolight

Confused by the naming? You are not alone… Lightolight is a colorful family of wall and floor lamps with a cup facing up and rotating dome, creating indirect light.

Lightoread

Happy Yeti vases for BD Barcelona

“Two years ago we presented a charming piece of ceramic which we named Happy Susto, which at the same time was a contradiction because it didn’t frighten. This new versión isn’t either but it has a new touch to it. I always found the Yeti story funny – that snow monster that wants to frighten those that go to the north pole. Converted into a vase, you can put plants in the head so that it looks like it has hair and scares a little more. The little decorations, not only have a decorative purpose, but also can have artistic value and an emotional one where a sense of humour fits in.” Jaime Hayon.
